Next Generation USA

JAGS Powered by Next Gen USA,
Pioneering partnership announced to develop future female soccer leaders.

Following the tremendous success of the U.S. Women’s team winning the FIFA World Cup, Next Gen USA  & The Jersey Area Girls League (JAGS) have joined forces to form a dynamic youth development partnership aimed at developing female leadership both on and off the field.

Next Gen USA is a values based, youth development organization. It is dedicated to support U.S. Soccer by accelerating the development of promising young players who aspire to play college, professional or international soccer.

JAGS League history is all about the female soccer player and has had players reach all levels of College and Professional.

This pioneering, educational collaboration will provide club neutral supplemental development opportunities for JAGS Players, Coaches & Clubs.

“In my opinion there's no program like this for girls and young women in NJ,” said JAGS President Steve Eckel. “JAGS continues to strive to support the development of female soccer players and having a program like this in place will change the future for JAGS female players. To identify younger players and then help their development to play at the next level is what it's all about. I should know with 5 Daughters who play soccer.”

JAGS /Next Gen USA Player Development Pathways

Development Days: Directors of Coaching or Club Coaches recommend their most promising players to attend local Development Days.

Regional Training Centers: The most talented players from South, Central and North Jersey will be invited into FREE Monthly “Best with Best" Training Centers.

Emerging Talent Centers: Nominated players considered not quite ready for Regional Training Centers will be invited into the local Emerging Talent Program. This will allow talented players who may not be the tallest or most skillful player in the team time to reach their potential. Experience tells us that it can often be the late developers with the right attitude who are the ones who eventually make it to the top levels of the game.

Next Gen Select Squads: Based on player's ability and attitude, Select Squads are chosen to showcase their talent in developmental fixtures, tournaments and international tours.

Talent Integration: The very best players are then recommended to U.S. Soccer for participation in Market Training Centers and U14 National Development Programs.

Developing The Character of Champions

The Character of Champions program helps players develop winning habits on and off the field. Talented players will never reach their potential without demonstrating a winning attitude, strong character and leadership qualities. Regardless of how high the soccer ladder players climb the lessons they learn through sports, such as confidence, responsibility, teamwork and persistence will serve them well in college, future careers and in life itself.

“We are delighted to partner with JAGS to help provide player centered, youth development programming that will accelerate the development of promising players both on and off the field. We look forward to supporting the growth of JAGS Membership Clubs.”

-Tony Williams Director of Youth Development Next Gen USA
