Next Gen USA U17 College Showcase Squad Wins Prestigious Del Sol PDT Tournament

Next Gen USAs College Prep Program made an impressive start over Presidents Day weekend by winning the U17 Boys Del Sol PDT College Showcase in Phoenix AZ.

Next Gen USA is a non-profit Player Progression Platform dedicated to supporting U.S. Soccer by providing club neutral talent identification and development programs that help bridge the gap between club and country.

The Next Gen USA Squad was made up of selected players from New York – Virginia who were nominated by their clubs to gain opportunities for supplemental development.

“ There is an abundance of talent in our region and this dynamic program was crafted to provide elite non-DA players with the opportunity to join together and showcase their ability and professionalism in both challenging training sessions and meaningful game environments.  - Tony Williams - Next Gen USA Director of Youth Development

While the players took pride in winning the tournament, it was the off-field personal development they all received as part of Next Gen USAs “Character of Champions” program that they seemed to value and appreciate the most.

A phenomenal experience in an outstanding professional environment with coaches who work hard to make us better players and overall better people. - Josh Grun - Marlboro NJ.

Prior to the tournament the players participated in a three day College Prep Program at the impressive Grande Sports World Complex in Casa Grande, AZ.  During this time players participated in a variety of interactive College Preparation and Leadership Development Workshops.

“The success on the field was impressive (5 wins in 5 games; 2 against Real Salt Lake Academy teams and the P.D.T. Championship); however, the truly transformational experience was in the development off the field. The players learned how to take ownership of their college recruiting process and to model the best practices and behaviors of young professionals in their own personal development.”
- Kevin McCarthy - Next Gen USA Director of College Prep

In its first six months, over 1200 players have been selected into the Next Gen USA Player Progression System having being nominated by 125 clubs in CT, NY, NJ, PA, DE. MD & VA.
